Hi *|FNAME|*,
Don't Miss Earth’s Berries on The Shopping Channel September 9th, 2010!
Thank you to Shelby, Sarah, Jan, Carolyn and Marly for their video testimonials!
Wow, July has come and gone very quickly. I hope you are enjoying this warm and sunny summer. Earth's Berries attended two great events in July, the first being Grail Lady Faire at Grail Springs Health and Wellness spa in Bancroft, Ontario. I met some truly awe-inspiring women, I would most definitely recommend this week long event to any woman. You can get information about next year's event at Grailsprings.com. Grail Springs has also become the first spa to be using Earth's Berries for their laundry and cleaning. They are also selling Earth's Berries in their retail shop. Thank you Madeleine Marentette.
From there we spent 4 days in London at Sunfest, what an amazing music festival. Everyone was so receptive of Earth's Berries we were able to create a new relationship with The Oscar Organics, who now carry Earth's Berries in London, Ontario. I will be in London for a “Demo Day” in September.
I would like to welcome all the new stores that are now selling Earth’s Berries:
- Nurture Health, Calgary Alberta
- The Oscar Organics, London, Ontario
- Gateway Fibreworks, Gravenhurst, ON
- Grail Springs, Bancroft, ON

Common Questions
Many times when I am at markets or trade shows I usually get asked questions about shipping, carbon footprint and the environmental impact of using a product that comes from half way around the world. I truly believe that we should do as much local as possible, but I also feel that we shouldn’t “throw the baby out with the bath water” and make sure we examine the ideas and products, that may come from a world away, but are much better than a local alternative.
Here are the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions:
What about the carbon footprint it takes to get Earth’s Berries Soap Nuts to Canada?
I choose to bring over the Earth’s Berries in Shipments of no less than 3000kg per shipment, below is the calculation between using plastic and the shipment and the CO2 difference
- Each 3000kg shipment from India = approximately 2 tons of CO2 to the carbon footprint
- 3000kg of soap nuts replace= 27000 plastic 32 load laundry bottles
- The production of 1 plastic 32 load bottle = 1kg of C02 carbon footprint
- Therefore that is equal to 27,000kg of CO2 carbon footprint
- 27 000 kilogram = 27 ton [metric] co2 carbon footprin
What is the sustainablility of the tree?
The seed of the Earth’s Berries are left in India, therefore providing lots of time for them to take hold and grow a new tree. It takes nine years for the tree to bear fruit that is usable as an Earth’s Berry. Most of the trees are centuries old. More active use of soap nuts have caused more planting of the trees, therefore helping with soil erosion that had been occurring in the Himilayan region.
Can we grow it here?
There is a real possibility that the tree would survive our climate here, however, the import of the seed at this present time is not allowed. The tree is a very hardy tree and may be extremely invasive to our present wild species of trees.
How do you purchase the Earth’s Berries?
They are picked and packed for me in India. I feel so strongly about how well the workers are cared for and the income that both jobs provide to the community that I have chosen to have the packaging done there as well.
